Activity specific to aerosols

The LEREM has gained wide experience in the whole aerosol area, in particular in the following fields :

Flammability tests on aerosol containers

The flammability tests on aerosol containers have been regulated in the 2007 European agreement for international transportation of hazardous materials by road which refers to the part III of the Manual of tests and criteria and since 8 April 2008 in the new Directive 2008/47/CE. This tests are the same in the CLP and the GHS :

» Ignition distance test for spray aerosols,
» Enclosed space ignition test for spray aerosols,
» Aerosol foam flammability test for foaming products in aerosol dispensers.

Mechanical tests on aerosol containers

» These tests, in conformity with the FEA 621 standard and the french standard NF H44-023, allow to test on empty aerosol containers without valve to the test pressure and to determine the bursting pressure.

It is possible to determine the mechanical resistance of metallic aerosol containers with valve, according to the FEA standard 623 as well.

Some connections also allow to carry out mechanical resistance tests of glass or plastic cans (aerosols or not).

Filling and closing of aerosol containers

The LEREM owns a small line of filling.

The LEREM can fill aerosols containers with compressed gazes as nitrogen...

The LEREM is able to fill with liquid propellant some small amounts of aerosol containers.

Other studies :

» Measurement of aerosol generator pressure at 50°C (conformity with the maximum legally permissible pressure and with the test pressure),
» Drop test on fibreboard boxes filled with aerosols containers (IATA)

Plastic aerosols

The LEREM carries out the tests on the plastic aerosols containers according to the FEA X6-647 standard project (drop test at elevated or frozen temperatures, with the commercial product or water and water + anti-freeze, and hot air tests).
