Approval of packaging for the transport of dangerous goods

LEREM is approved by the French Ministry responsible for Transport to issue approvals for packaging design types.

As part of this approval, the laboratory carries out the tests required by the regulations, prepares test reports and processes approval applications. LEREM also renews certificates and inspects the manufacture of approved packaging on production sites.

After approval

Monitoring continues after approval

Once approval has been issued, manufactured packaging must remain identical to the design type tested. LEREM carries out production inspections on site and renews the certificates.

If a material, component or manufacturing process changes, the laboratory determines whether additional tests are required.

Extension of the approval in 2023LEREM’s approval also covers fibreboard boxes used as single packaging and as the outer packaging of combination packaging, provided that the inner packaging is not made of plastic.
