A laboratory created by and for the industry

Founded in 1961 at the initiative of the French Metal Packaging and Closure Manufacturers Association, LEREM is the Metal Packaging Research Laboratory. Since 1987, it has operated as a non-profit association under the French Law of 1901.
The laboratory works independently with packaging manufacturers, aerosol industry professionals, industrial users and industry organisations. It supports them with studies, testing, expert assessments and compliance procedures.

Specialist testing facilities and an experienced team

LEREM’s engineers and technicians have access to specialist testing facilities. Before starting any work, they review the request, select the appropriate protocol and agree the expected results with the client.
The laboratory carries out routine tests as well as complex expert assessments, approvals, monitoring work and research projects. Its conclusions are substantiated, traceable and directly related to the situation being examined.

OUR NETWORK

A certified and recognised organisation

LEREM’s quality management system has been ISO 9001 certified by AB Certification since 2021. It governs the performance and traceability of tests and the continuous improvement of our practices.
Since 1997, the laboratory has also been approved by the French Ministry responsible for Transport to test packaging intended for dangerous goods, approve packaging types and carry out production inspections. This approval was renewed in 2007 and again in 2023.
